Do you want a customized browser for better SEO result? Of course yes, a browser can be dauntingly customizable with tens of thousands of extensions available. But they are like Android’s Apps, full of garbage with a few gold nuggets. Here is the list of all gold nuggets browser extensions for SEO.
Browser Extensions for SEO
1. MozBar
MozBar is a powerful add-on that allows you to see the Page and Domain authority of a website. In March 2016, Google removed PageRank from the Public so other ranks come in handy to calculate the quality of a certain website or link. Moz is one of the reliable sources.
Once you download and added this extension you don’t see much, you will need to sign-up for a Moz account which is 100% free. On the right-hand side, there is a Tools & Settings option. Click on it and enable everything in there.
Here is MozBar while browsing YouTube
Page Analysis: This allows you to see specific data about the page you are on. I’m going to skip it, but I recommend you click on it so you can get an idea of the type of information that you can get.
Highlight links: This allows you to highlight certain links on the page.
- Followed – By clicking this you are able to see all of the links that are Do-Follow links.
- No-Followed – This allows you to see all of the links that are No-Follow.
- External – This allows you to see all of the links that are linking to an external website.
- Internal – This allows you to see all of the links that are linking internally.
- And lastly, you can use this text box to highlight a specific word on the page.
(You can make darker theme also if you want like this)
Page Optimization: this is a premium feature so I’m going to skip it. It basically allows you to enter a keyword so you check how optimized the page is for that specific keyword.
Page Authority: Page Authority (PA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engine result pages (SERP). Page Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.
Domain Authority: Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). A Domain Authority score ranges from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater ability to rank.
Links: This shows the number of backlinks a specific page has.
There is one more feature about MozBar that I would like to show you.
SERP Overlay: You head over to Google.com and do a search. I’m going to search for “Nepal”, you are now able to see the Page Authority, The number of backlinks and the Domain Authority of a website directly from Google search results. This will help you estimate the competitors around the given keyword and how hard it would be to rank at SERP already.
2. Ahrefs SEO Toolbar
Basically, it does what MozBar does. It will show you data from the ahrefs’ database for a specific webpage. With Ahrefs SEO Toolbar, you have immediate access to both Page and Domain metrics such as:
- Ahrefs Rank (AR)
- Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR)
- Ahrefs URL Rating (UR)
- Number of Backlinks
- Number of referring domains
If you go to any specific page, at the top you can see a bar like above.
SERP overlay: Like MozBar it also shows data in SERP page from ahrefs, so you can click on any one of those and it will take you to the data of ahrefs.
It also gives you a backlink history graph.
So the only downside of Aherf is you have to signup which is NOT FREE. But Aherfs has much much much better database than moz. It’s up to you what you want.
